Hello, everyone.  Time for the Diva Challenge week #311.  She said to do something with squares and circles in the string.  So, here's what I came up with.  Some of my circles look like eggs, I will freely admit, but just look at them as circles (pretend).  In making this one, I broke about every rule there is concerning Zentangle and how you make them.  Like the one that says to not have a preconception of what it will look like when I get done with it; or the one that says not to plan what you draw on your tile;  I even got out my ruler to measure to be sure my squares were square.  I did draw freehand, though, hope I get points for that, anyway.  I pre-drew my ideas in my sketchbook before finally deciding on the lay-out, and I know that's against the rules.  I was very bad with rules today, but I don't do that on every tile I do, though.
I used Paradox and Onamato for this tile.

  1. It's very cool, Duane. And some of your circles are clearly just being subjected to a gravitational field somewhere. Doesn't stop them being circles at their core.

  2. Hey Duane, rules are made to be broken! And I think eggs rather than circles are very appropriate for this time of year 😀

  3. I think your egg-circles look just fine :-) They create a nice flow in your tile!

  4. Nicely done Duane. Sometimes we need structure and I think Zentangle "rules" are more guidelines anyway. A very wise CZT once told me that she carries an eraser and uses it because she gets stressed and if she can't, then doesn't draw!

  7. I also find that I find comfort in using tools to create, whether it is a ruler or an eraser, or even penciling it our first. Nice work!

  8. Well, Duane, one thing you will be reminded at your CZT training, is that there are no circles, only orbs. So, your orbs are perfect! I don't know if you go back to read comments left in response to your comments, but I did reply to you on my blog in regard to Paradox. Do take the time to read it before you go to your training :)

  9. I see them as guidelines, rather than rules. If they were rules I'd just kick against them and never get anything done so I turn on the selective deafness and follow the rules when it helps. I like you pattern weaving through the squares and I like your choice of patterns too. They works well together. So keep your elastic attitude to the rules - it's clearly working.

  10. This is such a kick! You clearly had fun, rules or no rules...and ended up with a terrific tile. Well done!

  15. Very nice composition with lovely drawn tangles. I like eggs, especially when they are made of chocolate!
